Were paying for an upto 16Mb connection (full 16Mb isn't available yet, we should be getting around 2Mb though).
The router/modem says:
DownStream Connection Speed 1952 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps
..which sounds about right! However, on speedtest.net (or any other speed test site) or downloading from a fast FTP, the rated speed is around:
Download Speed 180Kbps
Upload Speed 300Kbps
The upload speed seems about right, but the download speed is clearly wrong, especially since we were getting around 200KBps a few months ago.
The results are the same on all computers on the network (Windows XP, Vista, Linux and Mac) and are the same when the device is connected directly to the modem. Tried moving the modem away from electrical sources too with no luck.
Any ideas? My only thought at the moment is a dodgey modem
